Studio Ghibli is a Japanese animation film studio based in Koganei, Tokyo, Japan, best known for its “anime” feature films, especially the widely known and worldly successful ones from the two Japanese producers, Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata – also founders of this studio in 1985. And for the first time, its secrets are opened up to the European public. This unique exhibition in Paris presents us a total of 1,300 original layouts, from those two producers’ masterpieces in Animated movies, among which My Neighbour Totoro, Grave of the Fireflies, The Castle in the Sky, Pom Poko, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, The Tale of Princess Kaguya, The wind rises, some shorts animated movies and series and From Up on Poppy hill (by Goro Miyazaki). Admiring each of their drawings allows us to truly enter the world of Miyazaki and Takahata, and seize the real emotion in their work and the message they send. You will be stunned by the quantity of drawings displayed and amazed by the quality of each tiny detail in one drawing –which makes you properly realize the extent of the work required for one movie!
