Did you say Haiku?

The concept? Paper, pencils, a beautiful garden, a pinch of inspiration and here we are: a Haikus Day! The 8th of April was the day to celebrate the artistic spirit of our campus, making the courtyard garden a very inspirational and poetic place.

All day long you were able to write down your flowing thoughts into Haikus. They are short poems from Japanese tradition, made out of 3 verses. Often on nature and depicting specific atmosphere or feelings, your haikus were impressively diverse: from mysterious metaphors to spontaneous amusing reflections, they make the garden of our campus as eclectic as its students!

Thanks to your incredible devotion to poetry (and maybe partly thanks to the cake motivation thing), at the end 83 poems were written and hung in the garden! As Kaleido magazine is not the one wasting art into trash, here are some of the poems we collected:

Birds are singing,

Cheer and rejoice whistling friend,

Life is burgeoning

In light of day,

Before it falls down through

Sick under dismay

Souffle de la vie,

Répit éphémère

Le Coeur se reveille

Our last months in Reims,

Sweet memories in the sun

Caress us gently

Soy como el agua de rio

Y por el camino

Me dejo llevar

Apendique la vida

Por todo lo malo

Algo bueno te da !

Give it all to me,

One piece will make me happy,

I am so hungry

Embruns d’eau salée

Histoires de vent de forêts

Bretagne adorée

Pens are wonderful,

They help you write things on things

It’s pretty awesome

La lune aux reflets

D’euphorie, est pénétrée

De piques d’été

Soleil printanier,

Monte vite au bananier, nous

On rentre chez Mémé!

Arrival of sunshine

The colorful spring air

Gift of nature

Teeth, cheeks and smile

Loneliness for a while,

That is just my style

A long true, actual story

That you wrote on your lips

I’ll be an attentive reader

Londoner, darling

In you eyes I am diving,

You are my evertything.

Tu t’imisces partout,

Tu rôdes comme un garde fou

Fatigue qui te prend au cou.

Concrete jungle around me

Windows of the mind

Breaking chains.

You, smart Maroccan,

Inspire in me freedom

The walk must go on.

Landing on my cheeks

Hitting my lips

Kamikaze kisses

Seul face à tes choix

Liberté allant de soir

Ne sois pas, existe!
